SWIRL - Circular Head

While we are based in South Australia one of the best parts of our job is getting to travel to some of the most beautiful parts of our country. One of the places we really love going for work (everyone puts their hands up to work on these projects) is Tasmania.

This year we have again been working with local construction company Stubbs Constructions on a regional Aquatic Centre for the Circular Head Council now officially called SWIRL.

The centre features a 6 lane, 25-meter Pool, a Program Pool and Aquatic Play area for the North Western Community to use along side other sports and fitness facilities. While we cant take credit for the pool structures, that crystal clear water is the result of our pool water treatment system.

The pictures here might not be as stunning as the ones where we have built infinity edge pools on top of high rise apartments, but to us, giving a well deserved community a facility that has reliable, clean water is why we are in business anyway.

We cannot wait to get down to Tassie again and take a swim.

West Beach Parks

We have a great relationship with West Beach Parks (formally Adelaide Shores) having worked with them on their Splash Zone and Big 4 Parks Pool projects in the past.

For the Aqua Cove project, situated in the West Beach Parks Resort, we worked alongside Partek to create a new 25m long stunning pool, with dual water slides and play equipment.

The result is an amazing asset for resort guests to use.

West Franklin Apartments

Rising skywards out of the humble bricks and mortar of the old Balfours site, West Franklin is the first in a series of mesmerising towers planned for an urban village already garnering a reputation as one of the city’s hippest.

The unique architectural design of the West Franklin development was always going to result in a breathtaking, unique pool. The 24-meter pool features four acrylic windows on the street facing side. A visual feature for those using the pool and passers-by who can see the turquoise waters of the 7th-floor pool from the street.

Our team worked tirelessly on the project to ensure the challenges of the pool windows were executed with the utmost care and attention to detail. Care you can see in the impeccable tiling and finishes to the pool.

Gateway Shopping Centre - Darwin

In the suburb of Palmerston, lies the Northern Territories latest shopping megaplex, Gateway Shopping Centre. A restaurant and cafe district has recently been constructed with lagoon style pools and water features set among the eateries and pedestrian walkways. The Pavilions Dining and Entertainment precinct are scheduled to be opened in 2018.

UniSA Pridham Hall

Design Brief

The University of South Australia embarked upon the Pridham Hall Project in 2014. Designed to create a place for University Students to celebrate educational achievements alongside state of the art sport and fitness services. The site location, in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, as well as the desired basement level location of the pool, gave this project some unique challenges for construction of the pool and water treatment systems.

Innovative Solutions

While a traditional concrete formed and poured pool was possible for this project, the benefits of the Natare pre-engineered, stainless steel pool system could not be overlooked.  The pre-fabricated modular system arrived in containers at our Dudley Park warehouse, allowing us to streamline the installation from start to finish.

With limited space on the site for a balance tank, the built-in surge control weir of the Natare system was a perfect choice. The water treatment system includes a Natare high capacity stainless steel vacuum sand pressure filter, which is the first to be installed in Australia. Rather than a traditional tiled finish, the pool is lined with a Natatec membrane which is durable, functional and reduces annual maintenance requirements. The Natatec liner also allowed us to have the University Logo laser cut to precision, which gives this urban, edgy pool a little more character.

Flinders Medical Centre

The South Australian State Government invested $185.5 million to improve and upgrade facilities at Flinders Medical Centre, which included State Wide Pool Services once again be the preferred pool builder for the centre's second state of the art Hydrotherapy Pool. The Hydrotherapy pool provides an important resource for patients managing chronic health conditions and support rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients. We are delighted to create such a valuable resource for the community.

Modbury Hospital

State Wide Pool Services constructed a tiled, wet deck, hydrotherapy pool with both stair and ramp access for a newly completed Rehabilitation Centre at the Modbury Hospital.  The pool features a solar heating and keeps the pool water at a comfortable temperature year round. The pool is a well used feature of the $32 million dollar upgrade to health services in Adelaide's northeastern suburbs.
