Harold Holt Swim Centre

Design Brief

Stonnington City Council were the owners/operators of an ageing, yet popular, inner city pool complex located in the suburb of Glen Iris.  The existing outdoor 50-metre pool and indoor 25-metre pool were both heavily patronised all year round.

State Wide Pool Services were engaged and took up the challenging task of refurbishing the existing facilities and building new pools - all while the centre remained in operation !

The Result

The new hydrotherapy pool, leisure pool, splash deck, indoor spa and outdoor spa stand alongside the refurbished 25-metre and 50-metre pools in a facility which is now regarded as the finest in Melbourne.  State Wide Pool Services proved itself capable of not only outstanding work but also the ability to meet the rigorous timelines and operational restrictions imposed by this demanding project.

Water World

Design Brief

Tea Tree Gully Council own and operate Waterworld, one of South Australia's largest outdoor swimming centres.  Decades old, Waterworld was in need of a makeover.  Attendances had been falling over many years and the cost of maintenance was increasing.

State Wide Pool Services won the contract for a major refurbishment which included:

  • Installation of a new disabled access ramp and wet deck gutters to the existing 50-metre pool
  • New wet deck gutters to the existing 25-metre pool
  • A new splash deck with a range of water toys
  • Waterslide runouts

Of course, these refurbished and new pools needed new tiling, stainless steel fittings, plant, hydraulics and balance tanks.

The Result

The result is a state-of-the-art outdoor swimming centre which could easily be mistaken for a brand new facility.

Quality materials and equipment will result in minimal maintenance and this, combined with huge increases in attendance rates has turned around the financial performance of the centre.
