The University of South Australia embarked upon the Pridham Hall Project in 2014. Designed to create a place for University Students to celebrate educational achievements alongside state of the art sport and fitness services. The site location, in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, as well as the desired basement level location of the pool, gave this project some unique challenges for construction of the pool and water treatment systems.
While a traditional concrete formed and poured pool was possible for this project, the benefits of the Natare pre-engineered, stainless steel pool system could not be overlooked. The pre-fabricated modular system arrived in containers at our Dudley Park warehouse, allowing us to streamline the installation from start to finish.
With limited space on the site for a balance tank, the built-in surge control weir of the Natare system was a perfect choice. The water treatment system includes a Natare high capacity stainless steel vacuum sand pressure filter, which is the first to be installed in Australia. Rather than a traditional tiled finish, the pool is lined with a Natatec membrane which is durable, functional and reduces annual maintenance requirements. The Natatec liner also allowed us to have the University Logo laser cut to precision, which gives this urban, edgy pool a little more character.
